Sunset World Today

Happy 30th Anniversary to Sunset World!

This year Sunset World Group is celebrating 30 years of offering memorable vacation experiences in the incomparable Mexican Caribbean. What better way to celebrate than to remember what made this successful Mexican family business a “home away from home” for hundreds of families, couples and friends. Let’s take a trip through the past and a […]

HACIENDA TRES RÍOS

Our first time back to Tres Rios in 7 years and we’re already planning to return next year! Very well maintained, clean and lush. Several changes for the better since our last visit: The main beach seaweed issue that affects most of the Riviera Maya resorts has been mostly resolved, the small beach between the rivers has been developed with an area for members only (and no more blasting dance music, just a beautiful beach with beds and hammocks), a new kids “water park” feature in the main pool keeps the two upper pools quiet and kid-free, more of the nature park is accessible (10 cenotes!) and the excursions (bike, pedal cart, Kayak, snorkeling, Sense, and Segway) are all very well organized and fun. Hector, Tzouali, and Issac were excellent! We are Herencia Club members and our favorite amenity is still the private rooftop bar and hot tubs.
The food, which was always great, is now even better! Kotori now has a hibachi AND a sushi bar. Porto Bello, always a favorite, was even more delicious and fun thanks to David’s flamed Bananas Foster dessert. The seafood pizza at Il Fiorno is a must!
One positive covid-related change is that the one (and only) buffet is behind plexiglass and portions are served at your request. We avoid buffets for sanitary concerns so decided to try it this time – it was excellent, and a great way to beat the lines that can sometimes form for lunch at the other restaurants. The only complaint was that room service can be very slow (2 hours), but we only used it to order a bottle of champagne which they put in the fridge when it finally arrived. With so much to see, do, and enjoy here there’s really no reason to stay in the room anyway. Skip room service and let them serve you. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. Alma’s lattes and pastries in the Cafe du Paris were the highlight every morning, as were the desserts and ice cream in the evening, our waiter Luis in Alebrije, and so many others we’d end up naming the entire staff. Overall a great vacation!

At Hacienda Tres Rios, we like to combine the modern with the […]
